As a Licensed Social Worker, I’ve worked with both adolescents and adults. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology, and a Master’s degree in Social Work, both obtained from Rutgers University. I am a United States Army veteran and have spent the last ten years of my career working in different aspects of the federal government to include corrections and veterans’ affairs. My direct work focused on individual and group therapy, case management, crisis intervention and psychoeducation.
My experience lies in working with individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions and readjustment, managing emotions, grief and loss and substance abuse. I’m trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, the Nurtured Heart Approach, ARC Grow and Interpersonal Violence programs. I have extensive experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am also OutCare certified as culturally competent in the care of the LGBTQ+ community.
I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” when it comes to therapy. That’s why I meet clients where they are utilizing a combination of skills including evidence-based psychotherapy, mindfulness, solution-focused and goal-oriented approaches. Trust is key in the therapeutic process and having a safe space to be vulnerable and express yourself genuinely are necessary to take the steps in addressing some of life’s most difficult challenges.
