I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), and Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) with more than 30 years of experience helping adolescents, adults, and families overcome substance use, mental health, and trauma-related challenges. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping people navigate difficult life circumstances, build resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change. I specialize in the treatment of substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, trauma, and complex PTSD.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in client-centered, humanistic principles, which means I believe every person deserves to be met with compassion, respect, and genuine understanding. Life's challenges can often leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from ourselves and others. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable exploring their experiences, identifying their strengths, and working toward meaningful change. I view therapy as a collaborative process and strive to build authentic relationships with my clients based on trust, empathy, and mutual respect.
I have extensive experience treating trauma and co-occurring disorders and utilize evidence-based approaches including EMDR, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I integrate these approaches within a client-centered framework, tailoring treatment to each individual's needs and helping clients develop practical coping skills, process difficult life experiences, and build resilience for lasting emotional wellness.
In addition to my clinical practice, I have held executive leadership positions in behavioral healthcare, supervised and trained clinicians, and taught graduate-level addiction counseling courses. I also proudly served six years in the United States Navy, where I learned the importance of resilience, connection, and supporting others through difficult circumstances. Those experiences continue to shape the compassionate, collaborative approach I bring to my work as a therapist and clinical leader.
Outside of work, I have been married for more than 30 years and am the proud father of two adult children. I understand firsthand the rewards and challenges that come with balancing family, career, and personal growth. I am also an avid skier and lifelong athlete who played ice hockey for 46 years. These experiences have reinforced the values of perseverance, discipline, teamwork, and resilience that I bring to both my personal life and my work as a therapist.
My goal is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to create positive change. Whether you are struggling with substance use, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, or life transitions, I look forward to working alongside you to help you move toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.
